What do you think about OT Development?
If by development you mean bringing new OTs into the world. I would say first off there needs to be more schools who offer the programs. Second there should be more bridge programs from COTA to OT.
If by development you mean further education for OTs then the companies they work for need to be encouraged to offer a more rich continuing ed pacakge and be more understanding the time it takes to complete the classes.
Hope that answers the question
What are The Limiting factors to OT services known to you?
From my stand point as a recruiter in Long Term Care I see the biggest limiting factor the amount of coverage that is provided by Medicare/Medicaid
From the patient aspect Seniors are pretty much forced to purchase supplemental health insure to provide services that medicare and medicaid should provide. I think that is only gets worse as our federal and state governments continue to cut the programs even more. I know here in CA it is getting worse everyday.
From the facility stand point it I would imagine it to be very tough for therapists to provide the best care possible when they have to track and bill by the MINUTE. and then the faclity is lucky if they see the reimbursement anyway.
ABOUT YOU (describe your self so that we can know you well)
I am a healthcare recruiter with 10 years of recruiting, 8 of them in Long Term Care and 5 of them recruiting therapists.
I am joining this group for two reasons. First to get the word out there about the jobs I am working on and second I am an aspiring COTA my self. If all goes well I will be starting my program next fall (fingers crossed).
